A toast to Brazilian coffee!

Brazilian Coffee: A Journey from the Port of Santos to the Surprising Growth of Agronômica Laboratory in 2023.

As the largest port complex in Brazil and Latin America, the Port of Santos has been operating since 1540, although it officially completed 130 years in 2022. About 94% of international routes passing through Brazil make stops at the Port of Santos, accounting for approximately 1/4 of Brazil's commercial exchanges.

Given its geography, due to the occurrence of an estuary (a transition between a river and the sea), the town of Santos, founded in 1945 by Brás Cubas, connected Brazilian lands to the territories of the Portuguese Crown. It served as a hub for various Brazilian products such as sugar, wood, gold, and other minerals. However, it was the changes brought by the coffee trade that promoted the port's infrastructure, railways, architecture, and urban development of the region.

In 2023, Agronômica Laboratory, part of the Cotecna group, began its activities in the region, offering phytosanitary and sanitary analyses to sugar exporting companies. The phytosanitary analyses of coffee produced surprising economic results, which accelerated the implementation of new growth strategies envisioned by the company.

The story of coffee repeats itself... and here’s a toast of fragrant cups with one of the most valuable products of our agribusiness, both in terms of production and exports, heralds changes that will mark the laboratory's expansion in Brazil.
